I am building an electric vehicle prototype that is a ground-up new design (www.avianmotors.com). This is a 3-wheel vehicle with 2 wheels in the front and one in back (front steer). We have a working prototype. We are working on several options for the rear suspension.

My first idea is to use a spare tire – they are smaller, but you can’t go as fast on them as on a full-size tire.
Also, they should be cheaper than a full-sized tire. Check and see if there are any tire retreading businesses in your area – even if you can’t find a spare, they’ll be cheaper than a new tire!
Orange County Chopper might be able to help you out, but keep them thing off the streets.
Call a motorcycle dealer or someone that builds customized bikes.
Several motorcycle side-car rigs use automotive type tires. Check with Dauntless Motors in Covington, Wa. They’re one of the largest side-car suppliers in the USA, and also do some custom fabrication.
