    Baldor motors.
You need to also think how you are going to hook it to a transmission

Starter motors for jet engines used to be popular among the electric-vehicle crowd, because they’re not big but they can put out a lot of power and they run well on DC.
Electric motors for common household appliances will probably not work because they’re all set up to use AC. It has been many years since appliances were built with universal (AC or DC) motors.

First of all, check out this site for advice on building an EV:

There are several choices for an appropriate electric vehicle motor – you probably don’t want a washer/drier motor – those motors are designed for AC, not the DC that comes from batteries. You also need a motor that can handle at least several horsepower. Some really nice new EV motors, at reasonable prices, can be found here:

Some EV projects use aircraft starter motors, which can sometimes be found on the surplus market very cheaply. Here’s a kit for converting an old car to electric that uses an aircraft starter motor:

Note that his least expensive kit is only $1495 ! These kits won’t get you a wonderful electric car – you will get a barely functional one. But it could be a great starting point for a larger project.
